Senior Data Engineer

Our client is a well-known and reputable organisation and are now hiring for an experienced Data Engineer. The role will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining data-driven software solutions that enable efficient data processing, analysis, and visualisation.

Leveraging your expertise in software engineering and data technologies, you will work with the wider business teams to deliver scalable and reliable data platforms and applications that drive business insights and decision-making.

The Role:

Design and implement robust data pipelines for ingesting, processing, and transforming large volumes of structured and unstructured data from diverse sources.
Optimise data workflows for performance, scalability, and reliability.
Evaluate and implement database technologies and distributed storage systems based on project requirements and performance considerations.
Develop algorithms and analytical models to derive insights from data and solve complex business problems.
Work with data scientists and machine learning engineers to integrate predictive models and AI algorithms into data pipelines and applications.
Implement model training, evaluation, and deployment workflows, ensuring scalability and performance.
Implement automated testing, continuous integration, and deployment pipelines to ensure software quality and reliability.
Monitor system performance metrics and identify opportunities for optimisation and efficiency improvements.
Conduct performance tuning and scalability testing to ensure the responsiveness and reliability of data and analytics solutions.
Work effectively with other business teams, including data scientists, analysts, product managers, and business stakeholders.
Provide technical leadership and mentorship to junior engineers, fostering a culture of innovation and continuous learning.

The Person:

Bachelor's in Computer Science, Engineering, Statistics, or a related field
5+ years of experience in software engineering, with a focus on data and analytics.
Strong proficiency in programming languages
Experience with database technologies
Proficiency in data visualisation tools and techniques
Knowledge of machine learning and AI concepts
Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work effectively in a dynamic environment.
Understanding of Agile development methodologies and DevOps practices.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills
