Our client, a well-established property business, is seeking to appoint a Client Accountant to join its finance team.
This role will suit a finance professional with strong accounting fundamentals, attention to detail and the ability to manage a portfolio of client accounts in a busy, deadline-driven environment. The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering accurate financial reporting, maintaining strong controls and supporting the smooth day-to-day financial management of a property portfolio.
Key responsibilities
- Prepare monthly, quarterly and annual client accounts for a portfolio of properties
- Produce management accounts and supporting financial reports in line with reporting deadlines
- Complete bank reconciliations, balance sheet reconciliations and control account reviews
- Manage service charge accounting, rent roll reviews and related reconciliations
- Monitor income and expenditure across the portfolio and investigate variances
- Prepare budgets, year-end schedules and audit files where required
- Liaise with property managers and other internal stakeholders on financial queries
- Ensure all reporting is accurate, complete and delivered on time
- Assist with cashflow monitoring and financial planning for client accounts
- Support the preparation of VAT returns and other compliance-related reporting
- Maintain strong financial controls and support process improvements across the finance function
- Work closely with external auditors, clients and advisors as required
Requirements
- Qualified accountant with relevant experience
- Previous experience in a client accounting, property accounting or finance role
- Strong understanding of management accounts, reconciliations and financial reporting
- Experience working with multiple entities, portfolios or client accounts would be an advantage
- Strong Excel and systems skills
- High level of accuracy and attention to detail
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills
- Ability to manage deadlines and prioritise workload effectively
