Financial Controller
An excellent opportunity has arisen for an experienced Financial Controller to join an established and successful organisation in Wicklow.
This is a senior, hands-on finance leadership role with responsibility for the day-to-day financial management of the business, while working closely with senior leadership to support commercial decision-making, strengthen financial processes and continue to develop the finance function.
The position would particularly suit a strong Financial Controller or experienced Finance Manager who enjoys combining financial control, reporting, commercial finance and business partnering, and who wants genuine visibility and influence within the wider business.
The Role
Reporting to senior leadership, you will take ownership of the finance function and provide high-quality financial information and commercial insight to support the continued development of the business.
Key responsibilities will include:
- Lead the month-end and year-end close processes, ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting
- Prepare and review monthly management accounts, reporting packs and financial analysis
- Lead budgeting, forecasting and ongoing financial planning
- Manage cash flow, working capital and balance sheet performance
- Provide meaningful analysis of financial and operational performance, identifying trends, risks and opportunities
- Partner with senior management and operational stakeholders to support commercial decision-making
- Maintain strong financial controls, policies and governance across the business
- Identify opportunities to improve finance processes, reporting and overall efficiency
- Oversee statutory reporting, audit, tax and wider compliance requirements
- Manage relationships with auditors, banks, tax advisers and other external stakeholders
- Support the continued development of finance systems, reporting tools and processes
- Provide leadership, guidance and development to the finance team
- Support senior leadership on strategic projects and wider business initiatives as required
About You
You will be a qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent) with strong Financial Controller, Finance Manager or similar senior finance experience.
You will ideally bring:
- Strong financial reporting and management accounting experience
- Excellent budgeting, forecasting and financial analysis capability
- A strong understanding of financial controls, governance and statutory requirements
- Experience working closely with senior management and non-finance stakeholders
- Strong commercial judgement with the ability to translate financial information into meaningful business insight
- Experience improving finance processes, systems and reporting
- Previous experience leading, developing or mentoring finance team members
- Strong Excel and finance systems capability
- A practical, hands-on approach combined with the ability to operate at a strategic level
