Our client, a well-established and growing business within the FMCG sector, is seeking to appoint a Financial Accountant to join its finance team.
This is a broad role suited to a qualified accountant or someone coming close to qualification who is looking to build strong all-round experience within a fast-paced commercial environment. The successful candidate will support core financial reporting, month-end close, compliance and wider finance operations, while gaining good exposure to the day-to-day workings of a busy FMCG business.
Key responsibilities
- Prepare monthly management accounts and supporting schedules
- Assist with month-end close, including journals, accruals, prepayments and reconciliations
- Maintain balance sheet reconciliations and investigate reconciling items
- Support the preparation of statutory accounts and year-end audit files
- Assist with budgeting, forecasting and variance analysis
- Prepare VAT, Intrastat, VIES and other compliance-related returns where required
- Support cashflow reporting and working capital management
- Assist with stock-related accounting, reconciliations and reporting
- Liaise with internal stakeholders across operations, sales and supply chain
- Support process improvement initiatives across the finance function
- Ensure financial records are accurate, complete and maintained to a high standard
- Assist with ad hoc reporting and analysis as required
Requirements
- Qualified accountant or part-qualified accountant with relevant experience
- Previous experience in a Financial Accountant, Assistant Accountant or similar finance role
- Strong month-end and financial reporting experience
- Good understanding of reconciliations, journals and control accounts
- Strong Excel and systems skills
- High level of accuracy and attention to detail
- Good communication skills and ability to work in a fast-paced environment
- FMCG, manufacturing, retail or stock-led business experience would be an advantage
