Our client, a growing contractor business based in Greater Dublin, is seeking to appoint a Finance Manager to support the continued growth and development of the business.

This is a broad, hands-on role suited to a strong finance professional who enjoys working in an SME environment and wants to take real ownership within a busy, project-led business. The successful candidate will work closely with senior management and will play a key role in overseeing the day-to-day finance function, strengthening reporting and controls, and supporting the wider business with accurate financial information and commercial insight.

Key responsibilities

  • Oversee the day-to-day running of the finance function
  • Prepare monthly management accounts and reporting packs
  • Lead budgeting, forecasting and cashflow management
  • Manage month-end and year-end close processes
  • Oversee accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll and general ledger activities
  • Ensure accuracy across reconciliations, accruals, prepayments and journals
  • Monitor project-related costs, margins and financial performance
  • Support the business with cashflow planning and working capital management
  • Ensure RCT, VAT, PAYE, Corporation Tax and other statutory obligations are met
  • Liaise with external auditors, accountants, advisors and banking contacts
  • Review and improve finance processes, controls and reporting structures
  • Support senior leadership with financial analysis and commercial decision-making
  • Assist with systems improvements and drive efficiencies across the finance function
  • Manage and support junior finance or administrative staff where required

Requirements

  • Qualified accountant with strong all-round finance experience
  • Previous experience in a Finance Manager, Financial Controller or similar role
  • Strong experience preparing management accounts, budgets and cashflow forecasts
  • Comfortable working in a hands-on, fast-paced SME environment
  • Strong systems and Excel skills
  • Excellent attention to detail and strong organisational skills
  • Construction, engineering or contractor experience would be a strong advantage
  • Experience in project-led businesses, cost control or operational finance would be beneficial
